Stock Disposition Policy

Upon receipt of gifted stocks and securities, the policy of the Servants of Christ Jesus is to determine in consultation with the Finance Council of the Servants of Christ Jesus whether gifted stocks and securities shall be sold or retained by the community.

Tax Receipt Policy

The total amount received by the Servants of Christ Jesus from your gift of the stock will be recorded as the value of the gift for internal reporting purposes. The Servants of Christ Jesus will provide you with an acknowledgement of the date of transfer, the number of shares given, and the name of the stock. Your donation receipt will indicate the average trading price of your stock on the date it was received by the Servants of Christ Jesus. If your donation consists of a mutual fund, your donation receipt will indicate the value of the fund on the date it was received by the Servants of Christ Jesus. As is the case with all non-cash contributions, it is your responsibility to assign a value to your gift for tax purposes in accordance with IRS regulations.

Restrictive Stock

If you are considering a gift of restrictive stock, please contact the Servants of Christ Jesus Development Office at servants@scjesus.org or 720.458.3038.  Due to the burden placed on the community in complying with the restrictions during market fluctuations, the Servants of Christ Jesus request that you please remove the restriction before making a donation.
